Every September, the United States celebrates Truck Driver Appreciation Week, a time to recognize the men and women who keep our economy in motion. From September 7–13, 2025, we pause to thank the more than 3.5 million professional drivers who ensure goods reach businesses, hospitals, stores, and ultimately, our homes.Truck drivers are more than professionals behind the wheel—they are essential to the rhythm of daily life. Without them, shelves would be empty, supply chains would stall, and communities would feel the impact almost immediately.
How Trucking Shapes Everyday Life
The work of truck drivers often happens behind the scenes, yet we feel their presence everywhere once we stop to notice. More than 70% of all U.S. freight moves by truck, and for over 80% of American communities, trucks are the only source of goods. These numbers highlight the enormous responsibility drivers carry each day.
From the groceries that fill our kitchens and the medicine that keeps us healthy, to the fuel that powers our cars and the materials that build our homes, trucking sustains modern living. Even the small joys—a fresh cup of coffee, flowers for a loved one, or a holiday gift—reach us because of drivers’ dedication to delivering what we need, and much of what we enjoy, safely and on time.
The Challenges Drivers Face
Behind every delivery lies a story of sacrifice. Truck drivers often put in long, demanding days that can stretch up to 14 hours, balancing tight schedules while far from home. Family milestones and daily routines are too often missed, replaced by long stretches of highway and days spent in solitude.
Beyond the hours, there’s the emotional toll. Nearly one in four drivers report struggling with loneliness, and 22% have been diagnosed with depression, underscoring the mental weight that comes with isolation and constant travel.
Financial pressures add to the strain. Rising fuel prices, unpredictable maintenance costs, and higher insurance premiums weigh heavily on drivers and small carriers. At the same time, shippers and brokers expect faster deliveries and tighter turnarounds, leaving little room for rest or flexibility.
Taken together, these challenges make trucking one of the most demanding professions in America. Yet, despite it all, drivers continue to show resilience and commitment every day—keeping shelves stocked, hospitals supplied, and communities connected.
How We Support Truck Drivers’ Hard Work
At Summar Financial, we know that genuine appreciation goes beyond words—it means offering real support. That’s why our services give drivers and carriers the stability they deserve:
- Freight Factoring: Same-day cash flow for invoices, so carriers don’t have to wait 30–60 days to get paid.
- Fuel Card & Rebates: Weekly rebates and discounts at the pump to ease their most significant expense.
- Back-Office Support: We handle credit checks, collections, and paperwork so they can focus on the road.
Because when drivers are supported, businesses and communities thrive.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Truck drivers don’t just move freight, they move life as we know it. They bring comfort, opportunity, and connection to every corner of the country.
During Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025—and every week of the year—we invite you to join us in honoring their hard work and commitment.
To every driver: thank you for keeping America moving.
